Welcome

Welcome to the parish website of the Binsey Team Mission Community, which is made up of 12 Anglican Churches and a Methodist Chapel in the northern area of the Lake District. The parish of Binsey covers a large area and is situated between the towns of Keswick, Cockermouth and Wigton, with over half of the parish being in the Lake District National Park. The Mission Community takes its name from Binsey, which sits in the centre of the parish and is the most northerly of the Wainwright fells. From the summit each part of the parish can be seen.
All of our churches are normally open during daytime hours for people to be able to visit and also to use for private prayer. The only exception is Uldale Church, which is still closed due to further delays with the extensive restoration and re-ordering works, which began five years ago and are not expected to be completed until August 2024.
We are operating a regular rota of Sunday services around the churches in the Binsey Team with each of our churches usually hosting 2 services each month and the website has the details of the times and locations.
In a month where there are five Sundays, then we usually only hold one Service for the whole Binsey Team and our next Binsey Team Service will take place in Plumbland Church (CA7 2BU) on Sunday 29th September at 10.30am.
Full details of all the services that will be taking place across the Binsey Team for the current month are listed on the website and in the Binsey Link magazine.
A weekly service also continues to be sent out via email, to those who feel most comfortable worshipping at home. Here is the link to the service for Sunday 29th September - St. Michael and All Angels.
The Binsey Mission Community takes its duty and obligation to protect all, extremely seriously. We have adopted the national Church of England’s robust procedures and guidelines. It is our privilege to serve each of our small rural villages, and as a church community we seek to bring something of God’s love for us in Jesus Christ to all who live in our parish, along with those who work and visit here.
